All about Dracula

The tale of Count Dracula

People have always loved scary stories about creatures like vampires, but in 1897, when Bram Stoker wrote his book Dracula, the most famous vampire of all was born. Count Dracula lived in a spooky castle in Transylvania, and later moved to England. As a vampire, he needed to drink human blood to stay alive. Vampires had to hide from the sun, because sunlight could kill them, so Dracula only came out at night. When Dracula bit people and sucked their blood, those people also became vampires. Finally, a brave Dutch doctor named Van Helsing found out who Dracula really was, and destroyed him by driving a stake through his heart.

Famous “Draculas”

The story of Dracula became really famous, and it even became a movie. In 1926, a silent movie called Nosferatu, came out. Then in a 1931 film, an actor named Béla Lugosi played Dracula, and in 1958, Christopher Lee became the main actor playing Dracula. After that, there were many more Dracula movies, like The Return of Dracula, Blood for Dracula, or Van Helsing. You might also know some cartoons about this famous vampire, such as The Little Vampire or Hotel Transylvania. These are some of the most popular animated films for kids.
