My friend is ...
When teenagers talk about friendship, they mention several important points. One of them is trust. "With my best friend, I can talk about everything," says Jonathan, 12, from Liverpool. "I can trust him, and if I tell him a secret, I know he won't tell others." Besides trust, honesty is another key part of true friendship. "Friends don't talk behind your back and are always honest with each other," says Rebecca, 13, from near London.

Friends are loyal
Loyalty is another feature that young people mention when they describe their best friends. “I know I can rely on my friends when I need help. We respect and support each other, even if we don’t always agree,” says Lydia, 12, from Bournemouth, who has been best friends with Anne since they went to kindergarten together. But can friends still be loyal, even when it comes to football? “My friend Tom supports Arsenal, and I am a Chelsea fan!” Peter and Tom from London are still good friends and often watch football matches on TV together.
